Founder & Editor

MyMoneyMap is built and edited by a Canadian immigrant who spent years learning the system the hard way - paying hidden bank fees, getting targeted by scammers, picking the wrong accounts, and never finding one source that explained it all in plain English.

What I do here

I write most of the educational content on the site, build and math-check every calculator, and personally review claims against primary Canadian sources before publication. The goal is for any number on this site to be auditable in one click - outbound links go to the canonical source (CRA, Bank of Canada, OSFI, FCAC, Statistics Canada, CDIC, CIRO, CMHC), not a third-party recap.

How I’m funded

Personally, out of pocket. Zero affiliate commissions, zero advertising, zero sponsorships. See How I make money for the full disclosure. The structural reason the site is free: I built it for myself first, then realised every other Canadian newcomer needs the same thing.

What I cover

  • TFSA / RRSP / FHSA mechanics, contribution limits, withdrawal rules
  • Federal + provincial income tax, CPP, EI, RRSP refund math
  • Mortgages, OSFI stress test, fixed vs variable
  • CPP / OAS timing, RRIF conversion, drawdown order
  • RESPs, CESG, RDSP, Disability Tax Credit
  • Newcomer banking, credit-history bootstrap, SIN flow
  • Self-employed CPP, GST/HST, T2125

What I’m not

I am not a CFP, CPA, or CFA charterholder. I am not a CIRO-registered advisor. Nothing on this site is personalised financial advice. The tools and explanations are designed to help you stress-test a decision before talking to a professional, and to make sure the conversation you have with that professional is informed.

Reviewers (coming)

I’m actively looking to add credentialed reviewers (CFP via FP Canada, CPA via CPA Canada, CFA charterholders, P.Eng or LL.B for adjacent material) to fact-check content before publication. If that’s you, please reach out via the About page.
